I, too, understand that war risks are not normally insurable, but Messrs. Coode also inform me that they have recently had requests from Contractors for the insertion of a war risks clause in impending contracts for work in the Far Eastern and Australian areas. Such a clause would, amongst other things, relieve contractors from liability in respect of damage to the works or property, whether of the Government or of the Contractors.

I mention this since, if it came to the question of negotiating contracts with contractors other than the Netherlands Harbour Works Company, it seems not unlikely that such contractors would require a war risks clause to be inserted.
